Certified translations for visa documents - who did you use?

My AIMA appointment is in three weeks and I only just noticed the checklist says documents that are not in Portuguese need a certified translation. I have a criminal record certificate and a birth certificate to sort out. Where did you get yours done? I am in Lisbon but happy to handle it all by email if that works.

I used Multilingual Europe in June for exactly these two documents. Emailed scans to info@multilingualeurope.org, had a quote back the same day, and the finished translations came quickly. Each one has the official certificate attached. The part I did not expect: they posted the stamped hard copies to my address, so I never set foot in an office. Following this. Does the birth certificate need the apostille as well, or is the certified translation enough on its own?

They are two separate steps. The apostille (or consular legalisation, depending on the country) authenticates the original document, and it has to be done in the country that issued it. The certified translation happens afterwards, here in Portugal. So: apostille the original first, then translate. And use whichever certified translator you prefer - Multilingual Europe is one option people here have had a good experience with, not a requirement.
